Hydraulic traction drives enable the suction excavator to be moved during the extraction process. This equipment significantly increases the effectiveness, especially when sucking excavated material over longer distances. RSP also provides various ways of implementing this. All technical options are controlled by means of a joystick with safe-operating feature.

The operator may only use the hydraulic traction drive with the radio controller after checking the roadway with the utmost care. A roadway safety monitoring system is installed on all RSP traction drives, as the roadway is not fully visible when controlling the vehicle from behind. This system shuts down the traction drive and applies the holding brake if an obstruction is approached. In this case, it is only possible to use the hydraulic drive to reverse the machine.

The hydraulic RSP traction drive is a drive system which is incorporated in the drive train of the suction excavator chassis and allows the suction excavator to be moved forwards and backwards in working mode at a slow adjustable speed. The speed range is 0 – 6 km/h. At the customer’s request, the intermediate flange-mounted radial piston unit in the drive train can be incorporated in the open hydraulic circuit when the hydraulic RSP traction drive is used occasionally or for short periods, or in the closed hydraulic circuit in the case of frequent and longer use.

As well as the operator’s responsibility for viewing the whole of the roadway, a sensor detects any obstructions and switches the hydraulic traction movement off automatically.

This traction drive solution is also based on an intermediate gearbox mounted in the prop shaft. This gearbox additionally provides the option of switching the rotational movement coming from the engine to a flange above the prop shaft input flange. This provides a drive for the fan. Mounted on the gearbox is its own hydraulic pump which supplies the hydraulic motor which turns the prop shaft train to the rear axle. This traction drive enables smooth forward and reverse travel in the range 0 – 6 km/h on uphill and downhill slopes of up to 6%.

This remote steering system specially developed by RSP requires no inadmissible interference with the original chassis manufacturer’s steering components. The remote steering system is fitted to the original steering wheel where it is secured and electrically connected. The steering forces are transmitted in a similar way to the manual steering system. Control is by means of a joystick with safety function on the radio control unit.

This traction drive enables smooth forward and reverse travel in the range 0 – 4 km/h on flat ground and slight inclines The Reco-Drive is a traction drive especially for short-wheelbase vehicles. It consists of dog clutches which are mounted in the chassis prop shaft. A gear motor mounted on the dog clutches is able to move the vehicle when the clutch is engaged.
